HRH, The Princess Royal
Commonwealth Leaders Dialogue Canada is fortunate to have HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, as the President of our organization. The Princess Royal graciously accepted the position of President of the Commonwealth Leadership Development Conferences in June 2011 upon the retirement of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, assumed the role of Patron.
In support of the Canadian Board of Directors’ work to organize CSC 23 during COVID, HRH Princess Anne graciously hosted an online session to encourage support. Following remarks and a conference Q+A session, sponsors, organizers, leads, volunteers and directors had a renewed sense of optimism and ambition to complete the difficult work of reviving the conference following a 17-year hiatus.
During her visit to Canada for the opening plenary of the CSC 23 conference, HRH Princess Anne commented on the importance of the Commonwealth based on its size and scope across the globe to solve the critical issues impacting people, policies and places.
As the President, HRH Princess Anne receives the tour reports during the closing plenary. Each participant group is required to report out on the conference theme and their tour theme with insights, learnings and recommendations. When her schedule allows, she has joined in the experiential tours, to the delight of participants and those who welcome them into their organizations.
As the Guest of Honour at the annual President’s Council Recognition Dinners, in April 2024, HRH Princess Anne commended the Canadian Board for its steadfast commitment in the face of global adversity to revive the conferences.
Following the conclusion of the CSC 2023 conference, she thanked the Board of Directors and sponsors for their work and their resolute commitment to advancing the Commonwealth as a leader of good and progress.
